Frequently Asked Questions
I need a web site but don't know where to start.
Many of our customers are setting up a website for the first time and are often daunted by the whole procedure.
We will guide you through every step of the process dealing with things like hosting, domain registration an search engine submission for you.
We have produced some development guides to assist you and can be downloaded using the links on the right hand side.
If you just want a chat about your intended site or want to run an idea past us then please get in touch.
How long will it take for a site to be completed?
There really is no definitive answer.
We provide a quality tailored design and development service.
Factors are; our current workload and also the complexity of your site.
On average the majority of sites are done within 2-3 weeks, and we will always give you an estimated completion date before we begin work on your site.
What if I have a tight deadline?
If you have a deadline in mind we will endeavour to meet it for you but please be realistic, it is unlikely we could produce a 10 page website in 48 hours.
Just tell us when your site is required and we will let you know if it feasible. We will always give you an estimated completion date before we begin work on your site.
How much will a website cost?
There is no definitive answer to this question.
The price of a website will always depend on complexity of the design, number of pages and functionality.
We have a number of price guides which cover the more common types of sites we build and will give you a general idea of costs involved but as all our sites are custom designed, prices can vary.
The best way to find out how much it is going to cost is to either complete our online quotation form or to give us a call to discuss your requirements.
Do I need to use a company that is local to me?
The majority of our clients are not local to us and we have clients all over the UK.
All contact can be carried out via email and telephone and even video conferencing if required.
This is not unique as the majority of web design companies operate in this way.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept payment via cheque, bank transfer, PayPal and credit/debit cards - processed via PayPal.
Please note: PayPal transactions will be subject to a transaction fee of 3.4% +£0.20
Do I need to buy a domain name and hosting?
It's completely up to you.
All our websites come with one years free hosting and either a .co.uk domain for 2 years or a .com domain for 1 year.
After the free period has expired, you will be responsible for hosting and domain registration costs.
Our hosting and domain registration is provided by Apollo Hosting and pricing information can be found on their site at www.apollo-hosting.co.uk.
You are more than welcome to organise your own domain name and hosting if you don't want to take advantage of our offer.
Do I have to have my site hosted by you?
We would recommend hosting your site with us so we can ensure you get the right web site hosting solution for the site we have designed.
Our hosting prices are competitive and our design packages include one year's free web hosting.
If you want to host your own site then we will happily provide you with the website files for you to upload yourself or we can upload them to your host for you.
You will need to ensure that any hosting package is adequate for the site we have developed.
Will we be able to view the site while it is being developed?
We will create a temporary site and give you access so you can view progress.
This gives you the opportunity to provide feedback and request any changes during the whole process.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
We request a deposit of 20% of the total project fee before we can start designing and developing your site.
The balance is payable upon completion of the site.
How many changes can I request to the design?
We will make as many changes as necessary until it meets your approval.
We will then ask you to approce the design so we can commence development of your site.
Extra costs will be incurred if you decide to make changes to a design after it has been approved.
How do I send you images and content?
When you award us the project to develop your website then we will set you up with a login to the client area on our website.
This will allow you to upload images and content.
You will be given your own secure folder on our server which only you and us have access to.
We would prefer them to be zipped into a single archive file.
If you don't know what zipping is then please contact us and we will explain and point you to some free software you can use.
We have an upload limit of 20 Megabytes which should be adequate for most projects.
Can you come and take photographs for my site?
If you are fairly local to us we would be happy to visit your premises to take photographs of products, premises, staff etc for your site.
Additional costs would be involved.
